Gas tank pressure
My service engine soon light would come on, then when I'd fill up gas it would usually go away like 2 days later. It would be fine for about a week or so, then the light would come back on. So I took my car in to get diagnosed, and turns out my gas tank has a leak somewhere and is loosing pressure. No gas is leaking, it's just loosing pressure. The mechanic told me to try replacing my gas cap and see if that fixes the problem. Have any of you guys ever had this same problem, or have any ideas as to what might be the problem?
Thanks
Thanks

You could take it down to a state inspection place and have them check the integrity of the gas cap. It's part of state requirments here in Texas at least.

i bet it is the cracked refueler hose. It wouldn't lose any gas but it sure enough lets pressure in and out of the tank causing fill up problems. I've never heard of it setting off a CIL, but i suppose after some time of it corroding it's possible. Probably throws the same light as a loose gas cap huh?
VO - No inspections in FL, thank god.

Access to both sides of the tank are behind the seats in storage and Speaker compartments----O-ring seals pretty much throughout. Then there are connectors on Pass side below rear of the engine mounted on the inner Body Panel.
If in fact it is a leaking tank, it takes a little time to check out the connections but no big deal. If you dont smell gas then I would start at the high points ( Top of tank, Cap, filler hoses )

you know to be honest, it sounds similar to something happening in my car.
I fill up, and the gas gauge doesnt register as being all the way full, even though i know for a fact that it is.
it runs down to empty with no miles left till empty when i still have a gallon or two in the tank.
Then i started getting a random misfire code on all cylinders and an engine running to lean code.
my first guess is a clogged fuel filter. yours may be different than mine, but just throwing it out there. possibly a bad fuel pump?

Well, I started this thread a while back and I replaced my gas cap. It solved the problem for about 2 or 3 weeks, then SES light came back on. Now it'll turn on and off from time to time after I fill up gas, but I'm not noticing any patterns really. Have any of you guys ever gotten this problem fixed on your cars? I don't smell any gas, and neither do I see any small puddles underneath the car, so I'm assuming the problem lies higher up in the tank. What is the refueler hose you guys mentioned exactly, and would I be able to access it myself?
thanks again
thanks again
