Z eatsah de oil.
I did my usual routine oil change about 3 weeks ago. I was actually away from home at that time, so i couldn't deliver the used oil in my used oil container. I put the used oil in the new oil containers after i was done, I then realized that i only had about 3.5 quarts of used oil. I went to the nissan dealership to explain the problem and they told me that that if the engine was actually burning oil that they would look into it and possibly replace the engine, but since i had no real actual records of my past oil change, they pretty much told me i was SOL, so i asked them, "So if i started m oil changes with yous guys, how long will it be
to prove that my engine IS actually burning oil and possibly get that fixed under warranty( I have an extended warranty for 100k)", and so their response was 1 year of recorded oil changes with the dealership or where evers..... So imma go check out another dealership and hopefully they tell me something I would like to hear. btw Z info: 04 Base model (couldn't afford anything else at that time) Mileage approx. 54k. Mobil 1 oil 5quarts. Mobil 1 oil filter. The Z is Pretty much stock besides a K&N air filter. If you guys have or had the same problem and got it resolved, could u share your story? Thanks

Document your oil changes in a log book with reciepts when you bought the oil. I changed my own oil in my Z since I purchased it and I got a new motor at 30k miles for excessive oil consumption, but I had documentation of all my oil changes. You do NOT have to have them change your oil, but yours must be documented. When the dealer goes to Nissan corp and asks for a new motor, Nissan is going to ask them for oil records to confirm that the oil had been changed. If you cannot produce those then Nissan corp will deny the dealership the new motor and yes you may be SOL.
Mobil1 is the devil too. dont use it. I switched to it right before my motor started showing signs of excessive oil consumption.

ehh... you dont need to have oil change records, i got my new short block changed under warranty without a single service record, you just need to find a good service advisor...although records does help build your case.
