Irritating vibration and noise in my '03 Enth. Z
Hi, I looked through all the threads for similar issues and didn't find any... I realize that diagnosing vibration issues on a forum is difficult, but I'm going to try anyway.
I've had the car for about 5 days now... Bought it from a used car dealer. It's an '03 Enthusiast Z with 28,000 miles on it. Car is in great shape and everything works the way I would expect, except for this one situation (and this may be normal, but I'm not sure).
Whenever I am accelerating (haven't tried this with my foot to the floor yet), once the engine reaches about 4500-5000 rpm it gets real loud and produces a good deal more vibration than I would expect... The vibration transmits through the shift **** and a little bit through the steering wheel (more through the shifter).
I have a brother that works for Rouch and used to work on Fords SVT, and suggested I come here to see if anyone has any ideas... He said that it might be a thrown bearing... I'd like to find out soon as I've got 55 days remaining on the dealer warranty.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Modulus

Severe vibration through the shift **** and steering wheel sounds like a tranmission problem. A throw out bearing would sound like a vibrating/rattling sound with out a doubt, but wouldn't be so noticable under hard acceleration. Hard to tell if what you are experiencing is normal or not. Even know you did well discribing it, just one of those "have to be there to see it" kinda thing. If the car is abonormally shaking, i mean so bad every interior piece is rattling then you have a problem.
I wouldn't say that... I wouldn't even say that it's 'bad' - It's just more than I expected.
It's not a shaking like you get from your father when he finds you with a bag of weed... It's a vibration like you get from the barbers electric clippers. Very high frequency.
I guess I'll take it into a Nissan dealer and give them $100 to check it out... Peace of mind is worth it probably.
