Default Airbag light is always flashing

Recently the airbag light has come on. I took it into the stearlership and they told me that they would have to start with the airbag module under the driver seat. He tells me this is not under my warranty and I ask well how much, he tells me $700 and goes on telling me that this is like a ladder and they are starting at the bottom and if that is not the problem they would move to the next thing they think is the problem. So basically this could cost upwards of $3000. My car is a 2004 roadster w/ 36100 miles. I bought an extended warranty. I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem.

you can have it reset at the dealership...most of the time for free. You can do it yourself as well unless you are specifically looking for the reason why it's flashing.

I have never noticed this light being on before. Why would I need to just reset it and if I can how?

well if you never done anything to your car that should make that light go off, then i wouldn't just reset it. i would go to the dealership and find out why it's flashing.

I did go to the dealership and they told me I needed a $700 module that may make the light go away but if not they would need to replace something else. The light I am talking about is above the seat belt light.

That is what I find so messed up by Nissan, it is in black in White in the warranty book I have and it says that the airbag modules are not covered in the warranty I have. To me I thought it should b/c of saftey or a recall if there are more like this.

Air bag lights are hard to diagnose. Just getting the code is not the answer. Obviously thats what the dealership already did. That's why they are starting with the module. There is a flow chart to repair it. Start with the part that the light is on for. If that doesn't fix it then you may have a control unit problem or wiring or sensor issue. There's no easy way besides trial and error. It sucks but that's the way it is.

I purchased an air bag control module for $90 or you can have it reset for cheaper or for free as some has said here. No way would i pay $700 to fix something thats a plug and play (specifically talking about the control module).

It's ridiculous in my opinion anyways if you need one i would start by looking at www.car-part.com. Good luck and try not to get ripped off if you can.

I had the same problem & after taking my car in mult times to the stealership finally they did the right thing & ordered in new module. My car is just about out of the 3 year 36.000 mile warranty. I talked to my service rep & this will be covered as this has been a on-going issue for a while now.

I have no idea what the charge would be for the airbag module, yea warranty
