I'm wondering the same thing. Does it void the warranty?

DId your mechanic or service writer tell you that it does not hurt anything. I don't want to bother fixing mine.

I just got mine fixed at the dealer. All they did was replacing bolts/nuts/washers of the rear axle and the clicking sound went away But they didn't say anything about greasing the axle.

How much is the fix if you're out of warranty?
What are the parts needed?

not sure how much it will cost. Mine was under warranty. I can go take a look at the sheet that they gave me and see what parts you need to fix the problem.

My dealer just quoted $375 to fix this but I'm still under warranty. I'm currently locked in mortal combat with the dealership to get them to cover it under warranty. Of course they are saying it's a "maintenance issue".

Anyone else have any info to support that? That makes sense to me, because the axle bolts to the output hub coming out of the diff. It seems like if those bolts were stretched a bit, it would allow the axle to turn very slightly when going from reverse to 1st, thus making the "clicking" sound.

If that's all it is, then I would rather replace them myself.

My 2003 just hit 61,000 miles, so the 5yr/60,000 warranty is out the door...

I have this and a friend with a G has it too.
I thought it had something to do with the Brembo brakes and the hand brake.
Must have this checked out.
The dealer will probably not do anything for me because of the mods, bastards.

Took my 2004.5 Z with 38k miles for this TSB fix and I was told that they would have to charge my a $90 labor fee to have the clicking issue resolved. Is there a phone number at Nissan that I can call to have this labor fee confirmed? I might just file a complaint.

Thanks

I'm curious about this statement. I have a clicking noise, but its not the usual axel click, its more like a pinging noise but only happens when i'm stopped to 1st gear.

In addition to the 5yr and 3yr warranties, there is also a 1yr "adjustment" warranty listed in the manual. Some dealers (a lot from what I hear, and in my case) insist that the rear-axle clicking is an adjustment, and will charge you if you are past 1yr/12000 miles. Note: the TSB is not linked to warranty, i.e., it's just a suggestion on how to fix it.

My noise returned on the same side after the TSB. I called NNA and wanted to know if there is any long term problem to just let it go. They said they don't have anybody working there that knows about TSBs, dealers are the way to go.
So I hang up and call the dealer. They don't know of course and said they never had one - even though they fixed mine I said well I called NNA becuase I thought they would be a fountain of information compared to one dealer and they said to call the dealer. Can you call your zone rep. or something and find someone with the knowledge? They said I could bring it in and they would look at it. I said I will just drive it until the axle breaks off
Bunch of worthless people
