Default 04 Z sudden downpour...filled floor boards. ???

My wife's 04 Z (touring edition) was parked sideways on the drive when a sudden downpour of rain dropped 6" in 2 hours. The water seeped in under the passenger side door and filled the passenger side floor board in front and behind the electric seat as well as the area behind the drivers side seat. I have unbolted and moved the seats so I could vacuum the carpet. I have full coverage but want to avoid the claim if possible. Other than electric seat connections do you know if there are any other wiring harnesses / computers or electronics I should be worried about. Thanks for the help. (I was skeptical about trading the Mustang in for the Z ......But the Z forum was very helpful with their comments in the past.......we absolutely love the car) THANK YOU.

Lets stop with the “Don't want to file a claim” nonsense. You pay premiums right? Then file a claim and get it fixed right.

I forgot to mention that I carry a high deductible with State Farm so if it is under a $1,000.00 it is my responsibilty. I won't take short cuts with the repairs but I just didn't know what may have been exposed to water if only the floor boards were wet. Thanks again.

I dont think you will have any problems as long as everything is nice and dry before you attempt to drive it again.

If you can leave the windows down and dry it with a fan blowing fresh air inside, that would be best.

The only real problem I can forsee is that you may end up with a smell problem. Wetness in the floor boards will make any food that has been dropped on the floor in hidden little crevices start to smell.

A healthy dose of Febreeze will take care of that though.

Good luck!

If the carpet is wet then so is the floor. That is a recipe for corrosion. The carpeting should be replaced.

Left the top down on my '05 when it was about a year old and a sudden downpour caught it while I was oblivious, in the gym.
Drove home about a mile with standing water on the floor.
Spent about a week on it - towels, hairdrier, vacuum, airing out . . .
It's been fine ever since - no damage at all, no smell, no electrical problems.
Try the hairdrier even if you decide to file a claim.
I think the wetsuit fabric seatcovers saved me, too - the seats were virutally dry underneath.

Also you can try that stuff called damprid...it actually will pull the moisture out of the area its placed in. I used it in my storage facility a while back. Sells at target/walmart.

Just get out the standing water and let it dry out for a while, you should be good to go

throw rice all over the floor... (uncooked rice) it pulls moisture out of the air... and then use the hair dryer... (this also works if you drop your cell phone in the toilet... just pull the battery out, dry it off, don't try to power it on at all... and then leave it in a bowl of uncooked rice for 3 days)
