Default Engine Ticking Like It Needs Oil! But It Doest!

I have changed my oil at regular intervals since i had the car with Synthetic... But for the last few weeks my engine has been ticking very loudly and seems to be getting louder. It ticks at the speed the engine is going. Someone suggested that it may have lost compression??? Has anyone else had this problem and if so how much did Nissan charge?? Someone also suggested a tuneup but i dont see how a routine tuneup would take care of this problem.

And the tapping sound is more noisy when the motor is warm?

a. Improper valve clearance
b. Motor oil is low
c. Low oil pressure
d. Valve lifters are worn
e. Connecting rods are bent or worn

lifters are out of adjustment most likely or the oil passages to them are clogged.

yea a bad rod bearing would be a bummer... It would be cheaper to get a used motor if thats the case...Do you run your car hard?

i would say its probably a valve train issue. i need some more information to work with though, is your oil pressure normal? what are the specs after the engine is warmed up and what weight of oil are you using? synthetic? is the ticking audible within the passenger compartment, and if so, at what rpms?
