So I've been walking out to my car the past couple of days and I roll down the window using the keyfob. The drivers side window doesnt go down all the way and then its stuck there, and cant be rolled up or down using the switch inside the car or down using the keyfob. I usually bang on the door a little and it will roll down the rest of the way in a minute or two.
This happened yesterday on the way to the gym and it wouldnt roll up or down at all after it got stuck. so the whole way home I had the window cracked with the airconditioning on. not a huge deal, but I dont want to be stuck like that when it rains.
So I assume I'm getting the window motor problem and that soon a couple hundred dollars will be leaving my wallet. Just for curiosity I go out and try to roll the window up using the key in the door method. To my surprise it works immediately.
So now I'm thinking its not the motor, but a bad connection maybe.
has anyone had a similar problem?

Sounds like the motor to me, based on it starting to work again from the banging on the door. Mine used to be the same way. No idea about why it works fine when you put the key in the door though. I don't remember if that is how mine was or not.
You can pick up a motor from autozone for around $130 and it has a lifetime warranty.

i'll try to look up the cleaning method first, because I really dont think that there is an issue with the motor, but the connections to the motor, banging doesnt really work, it worked a couple times, but I think it was a coincidence as it hasnt worked recently.
well it looks like I have a project over the weekend.
OMG I just got this problem 2 weeks ago!
It gets stuck in down position and I cant roll it up, I slam the door sometimes and then it works but now it has been 2 weeks and it wont go up at all.
its frustrating,

MUZZY, try to use the key in the door method of closing the window. That worked for me the other day when the switch wasnt working.
I'm going to be taking my door apart this weekend to see if I can do anything about it, maybe use VO's cleaning method that blasian mentioned.

I have a similar issue. My GF 03 Z has a window problem on both sides. With my past experience with my Z i had to change both window motors. But for some reason on my GF car it doesnt seem like the motor. When I unplugged the driver side switch then re-plugged it, the windows worked. Also I noticed when I wiggle the plug while it is connected to the switch, it lights up and doesnt light up. When it is lit, the windows work. Also with the aftermarket alarm, it wont lock, but with the key fob it does. So is it a bad connection? Window motors? Window switch? Help me out guys!!

If you look at the door jamb, all the wires connect to the inside of the car through a plastic connector/harness that has a rubber boot/shield covering it. If you slide back that rubber boot you can see the plastic wire harness. it has a handle sort of thing that you flip down and disconnects the harness from the door jamb and the harness it connects with that is located in the footwell. You need to get your head under the dash and look around the kick panel to see that second harness inside the car. Clean both of those harnesses and then put them back together. Should work perfectly if its the same problem I had.
Sorry if the explanation isn't the best. When you actually look at the car , it should make sense.
