Has anyone else heard about a Nissan / Bose recall of all 2003 350's for a complete replacement?

Smyrna 350- Sheridan Nissan up here in New Castle, DE stated that the fix is supposed to be coming out in early to mid-August. They said they would contact owners accordingly. They weren't specific to what the fix was though. Hang in there! I am trying.

Default Run on parts

Hopefully there won't be a run on parts. I had to wait 4 weeks between window TSB kits (right and left windows).

I just hope Nissan and Bose follow through and solve this problem and put it to bed..

Lascala26 - Thanks for the local information. I think I'll contact Hertrich (Dover, DE) tomorrow and get "the scoop" from them.

I've been patiently waiting for this hoping all of our complaints, letters, e-mails, etc got the word across. I even went so far as to buy the 1 Ohm resisters (earlier posts in this site, 99 cent “fix”) but I just couldn’t talk myself into overriding the audio pilot. The system really does suck. This is my 4th Z car and I never expected anything this poor from either manufacture.

Please let me know when Sheridan calls you if you would and I’ll do the same.

Smyrna350,

You got it! I was at the dealership today getting an extension on my temp tags and I was talking to one of the salesman. He knew nothing about the Bose situation and thought it to be a good stereo. I explained the issues (low quality sound, no midrange definition, inaccurate speed sensitive volume, etc.), but he continued to say it was a good system. I got my information from one of the service managers. Makes sense that the salespeople wouldn't know the issues, but the service people would. The Bose system is starting to give me audio fatique. Hopefully it will be fixed before September.

Has anybody contacted Bose a second time...after getting the form letter. See below:

I disabled my audio pilot, and I didnt need a resistor. I simply unplugged the mic and it is working fine right now no more annoying base increases due to my keys jinglingnext to the mic... I have a sound system built after that amp recall though.

The sound system still sucks imo.. Would be nice if they recalled everyones crappy sound system and gave us all new speakers, amp, hu, etc.

You are the first to notice Animal Chin..... I was beginning to worry.

As for Bose - years from now we'll look back at this and laugh or curse their name.

Is this supposed to fix specific problems or just overall poor audio quality? After having the first fix (changed amp) my auto volume seems to work. But just overall sound is very poor. My Toyota Camry with a JBL system sounds infintely better!

Yesterday I went to an audio shop and got some pricing on some new front speakers. I'm defintely going to wait until Bose does it right!

This is Nissan own site that states the sound system is Clarion. What is the deal Clarion or some crappy Bose makeover?

The touring edition with the "premium" sound system is Bose. The standard sound system on all other editions is Clarion.

The sound system in the Touring model (I have one) is at the very least a combination of Bose and Clarion. The amp replacement for the early models released with the "booming bass" problem (built before Sept 2002 I think) was a Clarion replacement amp. There is a TSB for this replacement that specifically states Clarion replacement.

IMO Clarion builds "private label" gear for Bose.

Exactly right, I believe the majority of the "bose" components including the changer and speakers are Clarion manufactured to Bose specs. At least the speakers actually say Clarion on them.

Bose has already installed the new system in the 04 because I got a brochure from the dealer today and here is the quote.
“New for 2004 is a retuned, 240-watt Z-specific available Bose audio system with in-dash 6-CD changer – complete with noise-compensator technology. Making just as much impressive noise as the Z itself are seven speakers, including a 10-inch subwoofer.”
The 04 Z went into production in June so you wonder if they are going to live up to their agreement? Note:It does say retuned system!

I really hope this is true! I've hated the Bose system almost from day 1.

The amp TSB did nothing but make the treble and bass controls do nothing...

So when do we get our "re-tuned" '03 Blose system corrected?

My dealer in Dover, DE. knows nothing about it yet.

Has anyone heard from their dealer on the recall?

I stopped again today and my dealer doesn’t know anything either so I beginning to feel we are being overlooked because we already own the Bloise system.
