So I ended up purchasing the car. I have drove it about a thousand miles or so and the noise has become embarrassingly louder. Sounds louder than a supercharger lol After doing some research about it, it could be the dual mass flywheel. (thanks petersellers) Found a good website about the DMF and it describes the different failures which leads me to believe this is the problem. Anyways I am taking it to Nissan tomorrow and they swear the noise in my video is the recall on the slave cylinder and replacing that and the throw out bearing. I know its not going to fix the problem and it might be a shaft bearing.. or the very expensive flywheel which obviously is not covered under warranty.

Well if you're saying it sounds like a supercharger now then it probably is the input shaft bearing. Based on what I heard from your video it just sounded like the regular noise we all get from the dual mass flywheel. If you leave the car in neutral with the clutch engaged (foot off the pedal) and rev it up to 3.5K-4K does it get louder?

So I finally had the transmission replaced about 2 weeks ago. The day it was done it was wonderful. No sound whatsoever. In about 2 days the sound started coming back but you had to listen for it. Today Im back to square one again. Obnoxious transmission noise when your foot is off the clutch. This is not "normal" , "350z's are noisy". I wonder if the 370Z's do this. I wonder if purchasing an HR was a mistake.

Anyway, my transmission was also quiet the first couple days, but the noises and whine returned soon thereafter. And no, this is not the normal noisy tranny issues you hear about so much with this car. Sure, some low level of noise seems to be normal with these cars, but what we're experiencing certainly isn't. The work order specifically states there was unusual and uneven wear of internal transmission components, so obviously there is some problem here.
Car is a 2008, never raced, abused, or beat on. Since the same noises have returned after the transmission was replaced, I suspect the same type of "unusual and uneven wear" will reoccur in another couple years or so. Not sure what the root cause is here. Maybe the service parts are bad, maybe there is an alignment issue between the transmission/engine, etc I'll definitely be taking the car back in.

Did you take this to dealership or a transmission shop?
I also had the transmission replaced recently for a whine noise, loud "rocks in a can" noise at idle in neutral, among other issues. Work order states "...internal failure of transmission after removal of transmission found pilot bushing falling out of crankshaft and uneven wear to one side of bushing..." I'm not a transmission expert, but maybe they meant input shaft instead of crankshaft? The service writer mentioned that pieces of the bearing were falling out of the housing as they removed the transmission.

Hmmm idk man, I have that a little chattery sound when my foot is off the clutch and i heard the same thing when i took my foot of my friends 370z. It wasnt a whining noise. Maybe if we just overall change the clutch that would help?
Our transmissions are supposedly "bullet proof." but idk, if you still hear it try taking it to a transmission specialist. I had the sound for a year and no problems with my tranny.

Guess I will chime in,2008 Base with 33K on it and I dont hear any noise past sitting in drive thru's as usual.I have always driven manuals and had the Z since 24k,she has performed beautifully.I get on it here and there but no track racing and daily driven over 100+ miles a day.

2008 base here with 41000 miles. I did have the noise when off the clutch early in the car's life but I don't remember when I started noticing it.
My tranny was replaced, no questions asked, at the dealership with 35000 miles. This was due to 'failed synchros' between 4th and 5th.
My beating on the ride is 1st through 3rd mostly so I wasn't sure what to think. I was just happy the replacement was so painless.
My point is they replaced mine no questions. It even took a few days to get one so they have to be burning through these 08 trannies.

Now my clutch and flywheel need to be replaced at 42,000 miles and the dealership is trying to get $2800 for the parts/labor.
I'm livid and need some advice from this board. I know for a fact the tranny problems are widespread and both Nissan and Infinity are trying to get this $2800 from customers who are willing to pay.
Can anyone help with information to help me make my case for no charge replacement?
There is no way a clutch goes out in the 10 days since the syptoms started.

yea thats what we did and still ran into this issue, just saying something to be aware of going into it, they told us at the time they were under the asumption it was the same flywheel would think theyd have looked into that before selling products
