Name this wire?
If you get it right you would enjoy the title of being considerably smarter than the Nissan staff I have dealt with...
Other goes to a block connector underneath the relay's for the heated seats and heated rear screen... Goes to a 15pin wiring block ...

Nope its no an Ipod cable, looks too factory fitted and a few cars I know have them ... no one seems to know!

Definately not Ipod and looks a bit complex for a phone charger, 15 seperate cables ... which is traced to the rear of the DVD player.... Im really confused!

I assume you have NAV, hence the DVD player reference above. A better picture of smaller end (what looks like a phone charger) would help. Being able to read the label would also help.
From appearance alone it looks similar to a phone interface cable. Motorola Star Tac's had a similar looking cable. I don't know if Nissan is offering standard Ipod hookups, but if so this could be a custom cable to hook into the wiring harness with a different interface cable. Not sure what phones in the UK take that type of cable.
That wasn't exactly clear. Nissan may offer a hook off the harness for IPOD connectivity. Someone may be selling or making replacements that accomodate other devices... specifically smart phones.
From your picture it looks like both heat shrink tube and electrical tape... this could easily be a DIY conversion for any type of device whether its a phone or other MP3 player so that you can hook up to your AUX input on the DVD/NAV. For example, I use my Motorola Q as an MP3 player. It could be interfaced to your car with the proper cable through this interface.

The other end connects to your phone, now you have a heated phone.

The label on the small ended plug is all in Japanese. Nissan UK have no idea!!! Yes I have navigation - sorry I didnt make this very clear!
Heated phone, no doubt that will be an iphone add on in the future!

One end looks like an iPod/iPhone dock connector.
The other looks like a typical automotive connection.
Nissan *does* have an iPod/iPhone integration product, so I'd say that's what you've got!
