Default P0340 Bank 1 Code thrown.....CMP Circuit Malfunction

Ok...I have searched all over the web, all over this forum and have found some really good info about this code. I do have a friend with a TT G35 that had this code along with the other bank and the CSP Sensor. Ok, my options as I know them is to either:

* Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit
* Check for continuity in the circuit wiring
* Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor
* Replace the camshaft position sensor as required
* Check the crankshaft position circuit as well
* Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required
* Diagnose/replace the PCM as required

So, I was wondering what everyone has experienced in replacing when this code was pulled on their car. I've heard anywhere from having to just replacing the 1 sensor that was thrown and everything was fine to having to replace all these 3 sensors and the PCM....so I just want to see what to majority has been and get an idea how much I'm going to spend for this repair at the moment. Thanks in advance...

edit....it is the P0340 code, not the P0304 code....my mistake

-Brian

It might not be a sensor at all. 0304 is a #4 cylinder misfire. It could be anything. I had a 0306 code the other day and it turned out to be that an injector had failed open and was pouring fuel into the cylinder causing a misfire.

0300 is a common and normal code for turbo cars. Get used to it. It's there to stay.

How's it going Joey.....I'm thinking that if I've only thrown the P0340 and it's thrown it 3 times and no others, I may get lucky. Since you had multiple, I'm afraid that yours might be your PCM.

Thanks mods for correcting my thread topic. It's going to Nissan tomorrow morning and we'll see if it's just the bank 1 sensor. I have extended warranty and it should be covered. I also found that my passenger side rack boot is leaking and the top plug on the pump is leaking. Nice.

I just got this code yesterday (P0340). I guess I should start checking the wiring before spending any money on sensors? How much are these sensors anyways?

Lastly, what is the PCM?

Just sent you a PM. Curious what Nissan did with the car? I'm in McKinney as well.

I just got this code. Any insights on what to do? Is the car safe to drive for a day or so until I can take it in?

So I dropped my Z off at the nissan dealer this morning. They called and said it was done at lunch but when I showed up to pick it up, it threw the same code again and didnt want to start. They realized they changed my crank sensor and not the cam sensor... so they fixed it and I was able to return after work today to pick it up. When I got it after work it seemed like all was well... and I havent had any problems yet. (knocks on wood). I drove it about 30 miles since picking it up this evening. Cost $320. Time: 1 full day at the dealer.
