Drivers Side Power Seat PROPOSAL FIX
Hello,
I have thoroughly searched the forum looking for a method to DIY repair my drivers side power seat. The seat switch seem to work on occasion and then lock the seat in an often uncomfortable position for days.
I have tried:
1) Cleaning the outside of the switch with a toothbrush
2) Spraying Electronics cleaner into the switch
Spraying the cleaner has temp fixed the forward backward motion but the recline is now stuck it will only move back and not forward.
My question is has anyone tried to just scrap the switch an re-route the wires to a new switch mounted elsewhere (i.e. the center console)? If so can someone post up some pictures or wiring diagram?
Thanks.

that didn't really answer the question, but thanks for the advice. My only problem is my wallet isn't overflowing with cash these days and I was interested in a low cost fix-advice from anyone with electrical knowledge that could throw in their 2cents on how to cheaply wire a temp secondary switch.
I'd like to save the $100 towards improving something more worth while than a quirky switch (as Im the only driver)

In my case, the problem turned out to be a stripped nylon gear:

.
There is a place that sells this gear:
