Default Replacing stock air filter

OK - I must be doing something wrong....

First - yes I searched - which supports my theory that I must be doing something wrong. I cannot find anyone else with this problem....so anyway.

I was going to replace my stock air filter in my '06 today. Simple enough task - right? Well - it LOOKED obvious at first - unlatch the 2 latches - slide the little door forward and get at the old filter. BUT - the little 'door' doesn't slide forward far enough. I looked at the owners manual - it says to pull UP - but that obviously cannot work as the door doesn't even move that way.

So - is there a trick??

Seriously? Pull up on just that door - yes? I pulled a bit - but do not want to snap it. Maybe I'll wait for a warmer day - we got a cold snap here in TX (48 degrees!)

Im not sure a 48 degree "cold front" would cause that. Try pulling that bad boy up with alittle more force. It's a Nissan not a Daewoo

But - just to clarify - I'm pulliing up on the little sliding door - not anything else - right?

AHA! As I said - I was doing something wrong. I was not expecting a 'frame' to come out. I thought the door slid back - and I would pull out just a filter.

Anyway - thanks for the advise. I now have my K&N in place.

AND - I removed the leaves that had accumulated in there - that's a good benefit!
