Unhappy Disturbing Find

So I just changed my spark plugs @ 65k miles. I was saddened to see that some oil is seeping into the combustion chamber. This was what they looked like...
New vs Old:

Old & Oily:

When I started up the car with the new spark plugs, there was white smoke from all the oil... it's all burned off now I think though. Doesn't seem to have affected performance though, last I dyno'd @ 244whp, 236wtq, and I haven't felt any loss of power since. I'm not sure how recent this seepage occurred though. Is this a pretty common issue?

+1 I think that's what it is from what I've been reading. I plan on building a VQ35DE in the future so nbd... I'll deal with it then.

If its not the valve cover gasket, then how did oil get onto the spark plug socket. and he said that it put out a puff of smoke after the new plugs were installed. after the oil that was in the spark plug tube ran down into the combustion chamber.

Pretty common problem I have seen. There is a o-ring seal on the valve cover that sits around each plug, which seem to go bad quite often. I heard the only remedy for this is to buy a whole new valve cover because the o-rings can't be replaced individually.

What is your oil level like in between oil changes?

Oil-level beween changes is fine. No noticeable oil consumption.
