I am very confused.

Do you want us to tell you how to reset the oil life percentage thingy in your Yukon, or are you trying to operate a non-existent feature in your 350Z?

I was told that a light will come on indicating the oil needs to be changed. Is that true ?.

only light that should come on if you don't change your oil is the Engine light and that case just kiss the car good bye... Haven't seen a stock oil sensor unit like the one you speak of.

Default how to reset oil light on a GMC

put the key in the ignition at the "key on"(don't start) position and press the gas pedal 5 or 3 times.
Then turn truck off for awhile then "start"
