Coupe died on the highway tonight
I just got off work, and I'm driving home on the highway. I just installed the Stillen Air Box on tuesday. So, I'm driving, and I decide to get on it- I punched it at 70 in 3rd gear, I ran all the way to 5th at 110mph. When I let off the gas and push in the clutch. I'm just coasting for a couple of seconds and all my console lights come on (BRAKE, Service Engine, Oil). I look at the rpms and 0!!!!
I was like WTF. I'm driving on the highway, going 85-90, with my engine killed. I push in the clutch and she starts right back up (it was kinda scarry, cause the headlights turned off for a sec.). I tried to replicate what had happened, but nothing.
Does anyone know what the heck is going on with my car?
My old Z28 did this after I put a camshaft in it, but all I have done to my G35 C is an intake. ?????????

Been there a few times... I notice if i go past 70mph and quickly go into neutral to coast the car dies.
It's scary when getting off the highway and turning while slowing down to find the engine is dead.... steering wheel gets stiff!

Actually it was the the JWT pop charger that had this problem. At least this was the case for me. I fixed the problem by letting the ECU adjust over time, and if that did not work, I reinstalled the air intake, to try to correct any leaks. This process worked everytime for me. Once I got the Injen CAI, I have not had this problem since. I just installed the Nismo headers and Crawford Cats, and I had the same problem for a couple of days. Everytime I let off the gas and coasted in neutral, as the RPM's dropped in the engine, the car would tend to stall. Must be the ECU having to relearn its settings, becuase after driving the car for a couple of days, this problem has stopped for me for a second time.
I will try and let my ECU "learn" my new intake for the next couple of days. One of my friends works at the infiniti dealer and he said that he will ask the techs if they have any opinions on the problem.

ECU correction might actually be your problem. Generaly with an intake, the ECU see's "lean" because of the increased airflow. Long term closed loop driving will cause fuel corrections that will attempt to bring the mixture back to stochiometric. These corrections will then lead to richer than normal conditions upon throttle off, possibly causing engine stall...
Not much of a fix for this issue though... Resetting ECU will clear the volatile memory (thus erase fuel corrections), but then you may still be running lean... Some engine managment systems correct against this as it is similar to issues with venting BOV to atmosphere but they are also pricey...

I have a JWT Intake as well, and I thought this was a normal "safety" feature of the car.
It's pretty darn annoying though, and I was scared about this happening at track. It's a risk though.
