Default Valve Job

So my Z has 85K+ and is burning oil. My mechanic buddy said something about valve giudes? Anyway, the heads need to come off and I was thinking since the heads are comin off, I should do some upgrading. What upgrades should I put on? I'm planning to put a turbo on in the future. Thanks all.

Your mechanic buddy was just offering some theories on why your VQ is burning oil. VQ engines do not normally wear valve guides. If you're bound and determined to do some upgrading, particularly for FI, find a shop with extensive background and listen to their advice. You really need a built shortblock to handle the loads and that can be in the $8-10K range, with parts and labor. THEN you start installing the turbo!
