How much are dealerships charging to fix a head gasket?

I want to know a few peoples experiences and prices from place to place to know if the price I'm looking at is reasonable. I have had dealerships make stuff up before and try to get thousands in extra work done to fix their mistakes. (flywheel installed 90 degrees off, sensors in the wrong spots, even the MAF wasn't plugged in when they were done).

I can't imagine that many people here having had a head gasket replaced, especially at a dealer. Good luck with that aspect of it.
Dealers use a standard shop estimating book that tells them how many hours it will take, pretty much like a body shop uses for those repairs. Call a few, get some estimates and go from there. The $/hour charge varies so somebody here telling you $X to get it done is almost meaningless if their dealer is in a high or low dollar region.

the dealership is going to rape you. If you need a head gasket done, you could need a lot of work. redeck the motor, heads, could be nearly has invasive as a full build.
I have a guy in the SE suburbs that can do it. I will contact him and see what he would do it for.
