Default Wow....had to have car towed to stealership....plz help

Today was a rough day...went in for an amp install (alpine pdx-5), and after leaving the shop I noticed my vehicle idled poorly, at an inconsistent very low rpm, almost like it was going to die. I took it back to the audio shop, but after turning car off, was unable to reproduce.

To make a long story short, i stepped on the gas on the way home after this and the car lost all power and died....even lost the power stearing going 40...scary thing at the time. Got car pulled over...tried to start again, and it will in fact start.

However, after a good 4 or 5 seconds (or immediately if you give it any gas) the car will die. Ive never had any problems with the Z....its an 04 with 50k miles, and does have extended warranty.

Any ideas on what may be wrong, and if so what kind of repair bill im looking at, and would it be covered under warranty? Had the car towed to local Nissan dealership. Any help would be appreciated.

Was the battery light on? Possibly the alternator died out from shortage?

Either something shorted, battery terminal was left loose. Or your alternator was weak and if the system was strong enough it killed it. Those are my top 3 guesses.

I also suspect the audio install. No telling what wires were cut. Short circuit in the fuel system?

It could be the amplifer install it's probably and more likely pulling amperage from everything else in the electical system I would disconnect the amplifer and see where that gets you if the problems goes away and you want to keep the audio system I would invest in a higher amp alternator and a deep cycle battery

disconnect amp and recheck car.......

follow all connections and see exactly what they cut, spliced, tapped into.........etc..

invest in a better installer if the amp install turns out to be the culprit...

Strange enough I got a call from the dealership...they told me I had debris in my airbox, more specifically some leaves? I was unaware this could cause such a problem that the car wouldnt run. They ran more tests on the 02 sensor and everything else was fine...seems like almost too much of a coincidence that it happened after the car being at the audio shop all day though
