Default High Oil Pressure on start

Is it normal for oil pressure on my Z to be high when I start it up? The gauge hangs out at about 80 when it idles, but after the engine warms up the oil pressure drops back down to about 30.

Is this normal?

When the motor is cold, the oil is thicker which creates more pressure. When the motor warms up, the oil thins out, thus decreasing pressure. It's normal for ever car.

Thanks fellas. Just wondering, I've never noticed it before and it spooked me a bit.

Would running a lighter weight or a full synthetic oil fix this? mine does it too and although i never figured it was a problem it did kinda weird me out a little.

I run 10w-30 MOBIL 1 fully synthetic. My oil pressure didn't change, so I'd have to say no to the question about changing the pressure. Sorry.
