Default Brake light, loss of power

Yesterday morning while I was on my way to church, I was turning onto a road, car was in neutral coasting to slow, and then my brake light comes on. Thought no biggie, it came on last week. Well while I was trying to turn my power steering went out, pulled up on the brake release cause I was heading straight for a ditch, the brake didn't work, so I put it into 2nd, still no power, tried the brake pedal, and it didn't work. All of a sudden the brake light went off and my steering started working again. It was like the car died, but it didn't, so I have no idea what could possibly be wrong!

It sounds like you have a serious electrical problem. Get it to the dealer ASAP. Have them run a diagnostic. You don't want that failure happening at major speed.

Electrical in the Z's can be a little questionable (as I've read from the boards, plus my speedo once dropped/blipped downwards 10MPH while cruising at a steady 60.). I was told that it was probably an electrical fault. I have yet to replicate it, but I hope that is the end of it.

Good luck with your's, keep us posted.

I got an appt for tomorrow to take it to the dealer. He said they don't have a clue what it could be, but he wanted to get it in ASAP, which made me feel better that they were actually concerned.

called the dealer and they said they would tell me what is wrong with it when I pick it up today. He said there was a TSB on the problem and they had to order parts, but it is ok to drive until the parts come in.

Interesting. Make sure you get the TSB number if not a copy and let us know they're explanation.

They put on the diagnotic machine and they said nothing came up, but they are fixing the suspension problem. But same thing happened again this morning so I am taking it back to them tomorrow.

WEll took it back and no fix. They said the car is stalling, and when I put it into gear it pop starts, but nothing shows up on the computer and they don't have a clue where the problem is. I'm kind of scared to drive it now, just hope it doesn't do it again.

So you go in with one problem and come out with another? Your car is stalling now? What the heck did they do to your car? Be careful and good luck with that service dept.

They said that is what it was doing in the first place, they just figured out exactly what was happening, but still can't find the cause.
