Default rust on wheel hub flange

is it safe to use a rust remover, like naval jelly, to remove rust on the wheel hub flange (NOT on the rotors)?

or should i just leave it alone?

Wire brush and a coat of WD-40. It will be fine.

Wire brush then rust converter (sold at autozone, etc)...once dry your good, or you can spray with primer.........cover studs, dont get paint on the threads..

I think I will also pick up some of that anti-seize lube because the backs have a lot of rust on the hub and my spacers were tough to get off.
