all of the speed sensors are used for the speedo... if one of them is out of wack or an ABS module problem or a can comm problem your speedo will not work and your ABS light will be on

I think the speedometer goes by the rears only. However the VDC/TCS computer uses all four wheels. I know this because when doing burnouts at a complete stop and not moving, speedometer will indicate 30+ MPH.

BTW my front right ABS sensor is out, so I have ABS, TCS OFF, and SLIP lights on, ABS and TCS does not work... but my speedometer is correct and perfectly matches my satnav indicated speed.

Well, just my luck. I pulled out both switches found on the brake pedal and replaced them with switches from my buddy's car and the stupid lights came on again. So, I guess its safe to say that its not my brake switches. Still waiting on those bushings to come in then take it to get re-aligned. Maybe its a bad sensor. I'm going to get the codes read again to see if anything has changed.

Gregom, how did you figure out it was your front sensor that went bad?

My brake light switch problem was intermittent... so just trying it once may not be 100%. If you swapped those parts and ran on them a week, maybe then you'd see a problem.

As for my FR ABS sensor, I had a wreck that ripped the sensor off its mount point. Although still in one piece, I assumed it was damaged. I put it back on and non matter how I played with it, it just didn't work anymore. I also took it to a Nissan dealership and asked them to check it, and they said they checked it through their CONSULT II system and it said the FR ABS sensor was not sending data to the ABS computer.

I have a used FR sensor I bought off ebay on the way, should be here tomorrow I'm hoping. If it works i'll know for sure my sensor was gone, at which point i'm expecting my ABS, TCS OFF, and SLIP lights to not come on anymore while driving.

BTW do you have a copy of the Field Service Manual for your year/trim of Z? They have loads of troubleshooting and diagnostic info for the car, plenty of which I see for the ABS system. Might take a look... might help you resolve the issue faster.

Ok, I just noticed something about my buddy's switches that's got me thinking if both of his switches are in good working condition. I told you guy that all my lights stayed on but what I didn't notice til later was that my cruise control did work when before it wasn't Well after I installed the switches back on my buddy's car I noticed his slip, and vdc lights on also not the ABS and his brake lights do work. I asked him about it and he said they been on for a while. Great, now I don't know if His switches are really working or not.

My question now is which of the two switches controls the cruise control the one on top that is all black or the bottom one with brown clips? Apparently the cruis control switch on his car is good cause it worked on mine.
Maybe both of my switches are bad. Il replace one first then the other if I have to.

hahaha, that figures.

It's only 35 for the brake light switch from the dealer, just go to the parts department, tell them the brake light switch and take that to your car.

It's cheaper online if you don't mind waiting, but if you look at the images shown below on the link, it appears the cruise is the brown one while the brake light is the black.

^^Can't believe my dealer wanted 50 bucks for the brake switch.^^

I went ahead and ordered it from the website you mentioned, thanks. It should be here early next week. Got the bushings I needed also. I'll be installing those later.

Thanks for everyones input! I'll keep you guys up to date once I try out the switch.

Did you get the problem fix? I'm having the same problems right now, changed out the brake switch with a new one from the dealership and it's still an issue. Topped the fluid off and changed the brake pads as well..

I changed out the brake switch as well but no luck. Soon after that I spun a bearing so now I have bigger issues on my mind. lol! I should be up and running by the end of May early June. I'll keep tackling that issue when the time comes. If you figure it out please PM me or post it here. Thanks and sorry I couldn't have been much more of a help.

Good Luck!
