Popping noise when shifting to neutral
Does anyone have this problem on their MT?
When moving at low speed in 1st or 2nd, say around 6 mph (crawling in a parking lot), and you engage the clutch to shift into neutral, do you get a loud "pop" noise?
I notice it most when going into my garage (i have a steep driveway, but a shallow garage space):
i get into first and stay at a really low speed (engine is under load), i head up my driveway until my front wheels are in my garage, then i push in the clutch... then i get a POP noise
please help

Yes, I have the same thing (and heard it because I too had a steep driveway leading into a garage). It seems to be worse when engaging the clutch with the engine under load (ie - going up a driveway and then pushing the cluch in to stop in the garage). Mine was a pop and a couple of ticks afterwards (sounded like something was 'slowing down'... I posted this long ago and took it to the dealer - end result is that this is 'normal' and don't worry about it.
i hope so too... but it's just that the noise is quite unsettling... especially since it's SO loud and it actually bucks my car a little bit
to me, and correct me if i'm wrong (i'm a newbie MT driver), it seems like i'm unloading the driveshaft while there's still a fair amount of torque being transferred through it... thereby causing a reflex action to occur causing the popping noise
