Default Random Whistle noise starts

I have had my car for a couple months now, and last night I started hearing a whistle/ high pitched squeak when i punch the gas lightly. It also does the same thing when i am cruising at 3k-4k rpm. I looked under the hood with a mechanic and he said that it is just the air being sucked into the intake. Oddly, I have never heard this noise before and I have the stock intake and filter so it should be very quiet? does this happen to anyone else, and is this normal? 52k miles on her

Check your exhaust tips, the may be the ultra-rare JDM whistle tips. WHOOOO WHOOOO

I think you're fine, completely normal but check your air fliter anyway.

make sure you don't have one of these in the exhaust tips

there is a gasket where all the exhaust parts bolt together. Mine was doing this. noise was more noticeable at certain rpms..
mine had a bad seal on the rear most part of the exhaust.
I took it apart the gasket looks like metal ring.. my local auto parts didn't have the exact same thing but compared the size diameter to other exhaust gaskets they had in stock.. one from a lexus or mercedes i believe is what they gave me.. but no mater if it is indeed your exhaust leaking.. find the problem.. take it apart.. and replace gasket.. take the old one with you to an autoparts store and if they don't have the exact right part have them try to find a close match from what they have in stock based on the diameter of it

mine does it. even did it after i changed to a K&N direct replacement so don't worry. I do not believe you have an exhaust leak the two sound different

I had to track down 3 different exhaust leaks after I installed headers and a full cat-back exhaust. An exhaust leak doesn't whistle, it's a more raspy open sound. If you really think you have an exhaust leak, put the car up on four jack stands and run your hands around the exhaust(don't touch) and see if you feel a breeze. No breeze= no leak.....

yea it may not be his problem was the problem on mine tho.. and come to think of it.. i guess it was a bit raspy sounding

my girlfriends car has a whistle when you barely give it gas.. i havnt been able to find it because it only does it when driving it.. or so i have noticed
i haven't looked really hard for it but it sounds similar

i would think its def a leak of some kind tho.. intake/exhaust related..

Thanks for the input. Another thought that crossed my mind is that it could be the belt slipping possibly?
