Default Strange noise, like crunching glass?

I have the strangest noise coming from the rear of my Z. It almost sounds like I'm running over broken glass, sort of a little popping noise. It only happens at low speeds, when I first pull off and when slowing down.

Any ideas?

How many miles on the Z?

Wheels bearings sound like grinding ***** of metal because they are, well, grinding ***** of metal.

Is this the clicking rear axle?

There aren't any rocks stuck in there. Wheel bearings make sense though. I hear a hum at higher speeds. It does sound like it's from the rear axle

It sounds like it's on both sides in the rear. I'd put money on it being something in the suspension or axle. Its too high pitched to be from the exhaust. Maybe control arms or end links?

I'm an idiot. I searched for "popping" but not "clicking". Low and behold, there are a ton of threads on this!

a dying differential gear will also make snap crackle pop noises. start with tightening up all of the axle bolts and nuts. could be just one came loose.
