Default a/c clutch problems

ok ive been searching thru a few threads and didnt find any that helped, so that being said i have some questions. about a month ago ive been having trouble with my a/c, when i would idle it would throw out warm to hot air. As i would drive it would start blowing cold. So i check the freon pressure, that was good and at that time the clutch was spinning. So my question is if the compressor starts to go out will it work off and on are just completlly stop working? I also notice that when im driving and then come to a stop about 30 seconds later i can hear the clutch turn off and when i start driving again it cools like a champ. One other thing i have done is have the car idling for about 20 minutes, and in those 20 mintues the clutch would turn on but only for a few seconds then turn off. So i was wondering if it could be some kind of relay, but then thought, when a relay goes out it goes out it doesnt just work and not work. i was also thinking that maybe it is a clutch cycling switch. any ideas

any advice and input would be appreciated
thank you

Yes. The AC condenser depends on air flow just like the radiator does. Fixing the fan problem will cure both the overheating and the AC performance.

While your changing the fan, check your radiator fluid level. Make sure its full.

alright so when i came home from work i turnied the car on for about 5 minutes then drove it for about 15 mintues when i came back to the house the needle was in the middle, so while it was idling i was rev up to about 3k for about 10 seconds and every time i let off the temp would rise. so then i popped the hood and no fans were spinning, so i banged on the assembly and the drivers side started to turn slow then stop.

i had a strong feeling it was the fan last night but wasnt 100 percent sure because i couldnt see much in the dark. but today the sun was on my side and found out the fan motors are done.
thanks again guys for the help

If you have a volt meter check the voltage at the fan motor connector. If it is getting power and still not working, you need motors.

It might be the relays instead of the fans themselves. Look around pages EC-543 to EC-556 ('07 service manual) for more info.
