Ok so I've searched forums but my ban last month made it hard.

I drift my Z and have started to notice a ticking. Idk if I'm just paranoid and it's just my lifters and injectors doing their thing or if I have a problem...

I don't have headers but I do have test pipes, y-pipe. And an intake. My car is a 2003 enthusiast w/ 60k.

Also, I went to synthetic on my last oil change, maybe I should go back to Dino juice?

I'd check for an exhaust leak then see if it's coming from your valve covers. If it's coming from there pull them off and check clearances.

 

i posted a thread about JUST this very thing 2 years ago.. check your belts.. i bet you 100 bucks thats all it is my friend. Sounds EXACLTY like a stuck lifter.. very mechanical, and very much a TICK noise.... but i still bet its your belts.

is it all the time or just when you accelerate? i get a ticking on acceleration and i cant figure it out

upon acceleration makes me think exhaust leak.. all the time tick still makes me think belt issue unelss theres REALLY cause to think theres excessive play on the valve lift etc. or a stuck lifter.
