Transmission Flush.
Hey Im going to get my tranny flushed and fluids changed. My question is Can i flush my transmission with any regular tranny fluid? or does it Have to be flushed with the nissan expensive *** cvt tranny fluid. Thanks
DANG! No CVT for 350??? Why would the tech and the Nissan dealership say Thats the oil I should use!!. I my car in the shop now. I must call ASAP to tell them put a hold on the transmission flush. Why do techs give such bad info. He told me it was the only Transmission fluid they carry and Its for teh 350z too. If I were to still go ahead and use in in my AT would there be really bad consequences? and is there any other Fluid that is safe for me to use. I've heard people talking about the Dextron III or IIII. Is that type of fluid safe for My AT? Thanks.
My day is not going well, I just called the shop to put a holt on changing the tranny fluid. THey have already drained all the old fluid out which i was hoping they didnt after findind out that I cant use CVT fluid in the transmission. The dealer down here only carries CVT fluid so i guess thats why the tech guy told me I can use it in my 350z. Im not worried about warranty or any of that bullcrap. Seeing that im in a very tight spot now I just need to know if using any other transmission will be safe or unsafe. But I need some substitute tranny fluid that will be just as safe or close to recommended s/j matic.

When a transmission fails, Nissan sends it back to the manufacturer. They test the fluid and if it's not the Nissan J-Matic (now S-Matic) then the manufacturer won't cover it. Obviously there's a reason they strongly require it.
Sure, you can use some other fluid in it. If it fails in 5, 10, 20K miles you may have to get it replaced. Do you want to risk the cause being that the wrong fluid was used?

Matic S is superior to Matic J because it's pure synthetic and not blended. Price is the same regardless, so I would suggest Matic S. You cannot mix Mercon/ Dexron inferior transmission fluids because the seals and clutch material will react differently if the wrong fluid is used. Flush with either J or S. There is also a few other "synthetic" fluids that cost 3 dollars less a bottle... that are approved for our transmissions. However, none exist at any local parts store, I've looked.
