Do what the owner's manual says imo.

My source says it needs to be checked every 15k, that doesn't mean changed, just checked. If it needs a flush it needs it. Go by what the fluid looks like on the dipstick. It should be reddish pinkish. If it's brownish or a dark color, flush that shyte.

I dont do a full flush but I drain and fill every 20,000 just to keep the fluids up to par. Ive went up 30,000 no problem. I recommend not flushing your auto, pushes gunk into galleys in the wrong direction

I have heard that many times before too, but now it just seems to be a myth cause I've never actually seen it to be true. I flush trannys every day at work with very high miles and very dark fluid. I once did my dad's 94 buick and I was a little worried cause it was very dark, and obviously a 94. I have never seen flushing trannys causing problems. The way you do it is ok too, draining the pan every 30k. There is around 16 quarts in the tranny, and when you drain just the pan, you only get 5 or 6 quarts out of the system cause a lot of it is in the torque converter. But doing it every 30k will take care of that, thats what Honda does.

I did mine at 30 and I'm overdue since I have 66K. Planning on tackling the job myself...save some major bucks.

You will be fine. If your tranny shi*s the bed, send me the bill and I'll pay for it.

lol new question is it better to do it self or dealer

self you buy 12 qts and open drain plug fill it while having someone look underneath and match color before stopping closing plug and topping off.

Or dealer pay 250ish have them hook up a machine that will take all the fluid out by sucking it and then pushing new fluid in. Idk if they change the filter or not though.

It is better to flush it because you get all of the fluid out of the system. But if you did want to save money you could pull the drain plug and fill it back up; just like changing engine oil. The dealers don't usually change the filter. You won't need 12 quarts if all you're doing is a drain and fill.
