Ses; vdc; slip
Hey guys, I'm new to the VQ world. Just bought a '04 touring coupe w/60k on it, 6spd MT.. Had it for about a week now.. Went out to go crank it up and run to the store.. Turned the key and it started right up nice and easy like usual, but it only stayed started for about 2 seconds then it died. I tried to crank it again and it didnt crank up for about 7 seconds.. It sounded like it was really struggling. After it got started it stayed on but the SES light came on along with the VDC and SLIP(whatever that means).. I did some reading and apparently a lot of people have this problem and its because of the camshaft position sensor. I'm hoping that this is the problem because its a really simple fix. Any thoughts/opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

OK, so I think the people at Autozone are idiots.. They might have sold me the wrong part, because it died on me again.. Is the bank 1 sensor the angled one or the straight one?? Please help.. I'm getting frustrated.. Nobody can seem to tell me. :[

Same here! Car cold starts fine. Drive for a few minutes and the car losses engine power. The all 3 of those lights come on and stay on. But car runs fine after the lights come on and stay on. Its an 03 with ddk on the car and 22k on the motor. I looked around under the hood and everything seems to be plugged in. I did notice that tha tps on the throttle body had a hole in the top of the plastic. Could it be the tps? Seems like the car revs fine and everything, just all the lights on ate scaring me!

codes
Have them check your codes with an OBD2 reader. If it is the camshaft or crankshaft sensor, the OBD2 codes will indicate which one (which bank). Field service manual for your year will indicate the maintenance steps for the different codes (which sensor needs to be replaced). I believe that there is a sticky for the FSM here in this sub-forum.
