Noise going into reverse
Hey all,
New to the 350Z. I have the 04 roadster. I noticed when I put the car in "R" i hear a metalic click sound, kinda loud. If I put it back in drive and move forward and back into "R" no sound. It only seems to make the Click sound after it has been parked for a short time. ANY ideas? I turned the drive shaft by hand it it has a bit of play but not anything out of normal. Point me in the right direction so I know where to start looking.
Thanks

Don't know the exact name of the problem. But search Rear axle click on the forum, you'll find hundreds of posts about it. Its a common problem. The basic jist of the fix is re-greasing? Lubing the rear axle.
The answer you seek is in this thread, on the 1st page:

The noise I have is not constant and does not occur in the instances for the axel clicking. Definetly coming from the tail housing of the tranny area. Two clicks when engaging into reverse. If I have been driving and put it into park tiurn the motor off and then back on and put it in reverse, no click. If it sits for more than 30 minutes and I put it in reverse " CLick". I will service the axels but like I stated, it ain't coming from the axels.
