Default Strut Bar/Upper IC Pipe clearance issue

So I just got my Momentum Performance ST kit installed and ran into 2 problems:

1. The Strut bar does not fit. the upper IC pipe doesn't allow for it. So I want a replacement that WILL work because this car is mostly a drift car and I don't want to lose handling on it...

2. Bigger problem: The Upper IC pipe rubs against the hood on 3 spots... More notably around where the strut bar used to be on the left side (right if you're looking at your engine from the front). I'll post some pictures in a bit... The thing is, I don't know if simply denting the inside of the hood to allow for clearance will fix it, replace the hood w/ an 07-08 Hood (it's taller) or put washers on the rear of my hood so it sits slightly higher...

Input plz

I had the same problem. I ended up buying an 07-08 hood like you mentioned and raising the strut bar a little with spacers and longer bolts. This took care of the problem. You have to keep in mind that you've got to torque the strut bar to exact specifications to ensure correct application. When I removed mine to place the washers under it, I took note on exactly how tightened each bolt was.

I raised the stock hood with washers for a temporary fix until my new hood came in. It looked like crap, though.

How is the upper IC pipe rubbing on the hood so much? Is it the piece that runs in front of the engine? Be sure to loosen up the couplings and ic mounts and try to massage all the connections.

I decided to cut some holes on the support part of the hood, since it'd take care of the problem of rubbing... Well... It started to rub a couple inches away, WTF!? Anyhow, I ended up going to Autozone and getting some weather strip material (kinda like on the doors) and placing it on the parts of the hood where it rubbed... Seems to have worked out.

My car feels all weird tho, I don't know if it's the new Stg 4 clutch, lightweight flywheel, or the diff, but it doesn't feel good at all... Gotta work out the gremlins in it right now...

Crawling_Drunk:

Congrats on getting your turbo kit and I want you to know that Momentum and our Certified Dealer Network are here and committed to help you resolve any of the problems you may be having with the turbo kit and its fitment. I know that Bryan took a minute to help you with some of your other questions about the clutch/tranny and oil requirements, but I would really like to help you resolve the fitment issues you are questioning in this thread post. We designed this kit with optimal airflow and efficiency in mind, with larger exhaust and charge tubes making the fitment very tight in the already cramped engine bay. There is significant adjustability in the fitment of the two charge pipes in the engine bay (the ones I believe you are having trouble with) and I am hoping something is just a bit out of adjustment.

We released our kit for sale the first of this year and have had a really great response so far. We have been working closely with our Certified Dealer Network on documenting their response and feedback, only to better our product and PUSH FORWARD. I would really like to learn more about the fitment concerns you have and was wondering if there would be any chance that you could bring your car by one of our Certified Dealers? National Speed, in Wilmington, NC, would be the closest(about 40 mins from Jacksonville) and I feel confident that they could take a quick look and see what the problem is. They have installed multiple Momentum Single Turbo Kits and could provide us any feedback if it was something on our end that needed to be addressed. Jordan, that responded in your other post, would be the best person to contact. Here is their contact info: http://www.nationalspeedinc.com/contact/.

PUSH FORWARD!
Bobby

^^ I appreciate the response and the attention to these threads... Lemme start off by saying that the car feels amazing. The tuner that installed it had nothing but compliments about it, and I can't stop driving the car randomly (went out for a drive yesterday just cuz I wanted to feel the car again.)

I'm already talking to some of the guys at NS through PMs, trying to get a date set for a custom tune and looking into some of the issues my Z seems to be having. As for the pipe rubbing on the hood, I bought some weather strip and placed it on the spot on the hood where it rubs, so it doesn't bother me as much anymore, however I'll still look into it and figure out if anything else can be done.

I'll post some pics if it helps, anyhow, Thanks!

^^ I'm on it, talking to Jordan @ NSI to drop the Z off tomorrow... should have followed my gut but oh well... Hopefully they'd be able to take it and get some gremlins out!

P.S. All issues that I seem to have, are related to install or the tranny mods, the kit performs amazing and can't wait to feel how it performs while sliding the Z!
