Default Strange vibration felt in shifter..

Hey guys,
I've owned my Z since april 2011 and I really like it.
Its an '07 enthusiast with about 41K on it, 6 sp manual.
The previous owner did the slave cylinder recall back in 2008.

Recently now while driving in 3rd or 4th gear, if I rev it out to 5000 or 6000 rpm and let it rev down on its own without pushing in the clutch, when it gets between 4000 and 3000 rpm a very sharp vibration comes through the shifter.
There is normal vibration in the shifter.. but then it almost turns into a "buzz".. but without the noise. a very fast vibration.
It doesn't fade in, or fade out. Its on. then Off.
It lasts for about 1-3 seconds and then goes away.. It doesn't happen all of the time probably I would say 30% of the time it will happen.
It also doesn't matter if the car is warm or cold.

I brought it into the dealership and they felt what I was talking about. but they told me "we would have no way to replicate it on the hoist". So they were unable to do anything about it.
I've talked around to a few of my friends and everyone is puzzled.. they've never heard or felt that problem before.

I think I have it narrowed down to be something to do with the syncos in the transmission. But I'm not an expert.. So I'm calling upon you people to hopefully help me out!

Thanks!
Mike

Mine does it too. I have to assume it's normal, since it has been there since day one, done it on both transmissions, and never gotten any worse or better. Feels like a drivetrain harmonic to me.

It's hard to say without seeing it.. but it just sounds like normal shifter activity.. so I wouldn't be alarmed. Typically RWD cars have lots of feedback in the shifters, my Z certainly does.

Mine does it too. between 2500 and 2000 while decelerating in 3rd gear. It doesnt bother me, I never suspected it to be a problem.

Mine does it as well. I don't think it's anything to worry about.

Mine too just for your peace of mind... Not very often though. It's VERY rare, but when it does, boy is it a strong vibration haha

Mine does it as well. The shaking seems to go away when I shift it into neutral so I usually shift into neutral and shift back into the same gear I was in. Could just be the shift linkage or something.

In my opinion, their transmissions/linkage sucks. I had choppy shifting for a LONG time with the stock shifter and ****, picked up a TWMPerformance ball bearing short shifter with their Desert Eagle ****. It helped a lot, but didnt solve the problem fully.

Great.
I feel better (in a way) knowing that it seems to be a common problem.

Thanks guys!

I would say drive train harmonics also. Maybe because of the carbon fiber drive shaft?

I get it too, (2007 350Z)

Same here...just got my car last week and test drove 350Z for first time. I felt vibration in shifter and it freaked me out. I found the reason here, and it makes sense>>>>Shifter is right over and directly *connected* to tranny below. No wonder. Most shifter mechanisms are somewhat isolated from the tranny itself. I had a FWD Cobalt and you got ZERO vibes in the shifter. Having said this, it SHIFTS well and they are solid shifts.
