Default Do you guys have any insight on this?

My friend was doing a valve cover gasket swap today and ran into a problem. He called me looking for a possible solution but after everything I could think of the problem persist. Now since I've been out of commission I can't really go and work on his car but I want to see if I can find a possible answer.

From what he told me he did the valve swap and reassemble the plenum, intake, etc. The problem came up when he turn on the car, it idled rough, he said the whole car shakes and the exhaust makes a popping noise like it's firing rockets or something. The took it for a drive and noticed lose of throttle response.

I suggested checking for vacuum leak, everything checked out.
Resetting the ECU, still there.
Check the intake and clean MAF sensor, still there.
Check the tightness on the bolts on the plenum, its all tightened correctly.

I'm thinking it could be a misfire, and I have him trying to check to see if that is the case. What do you guys think it could be?

He told me he labeled each one so he know exactly which goes where. I also told him to check the connection on the coils. He have not reported if he tried that or not. I'll double check.

on the back of the drive side valve cover theres a connection back there i forgot it once, it did the same coil pack sympton thing, but seriously check the connections to each coil they might be wrong, it will sound real crazy like the car is choking to death and shitting itself.

I had a chance to look at his engine today. He had the ole spark plug wiring misplacement. Driver side 3 and 2 got mismatched. Everything is fine now.
