Default Help this is pretty odd! happened to you? pics

2004.5 enthusiast 350z 60k

Just got car detailed yesterday and while driving this morning all the lights came on like the car was possessed. I noticed the radiator fan also kicked on. Something electrical right? i thought to myself- sel f wtf is going on. im thinking 2 possibilities A the ecu maybe fried itself when the carpets were getting shampoo'ed (far fetched probably but cant think of much more) or B that thing below the stereo got wet. PIC below. I couldnt google what it was.
The big C made me think it was the computer, when i googled computer all i got was the ECU located in the dash. Missing work today to try to figure this out

<a href="http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i258/briin79/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_4719.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i258/briin79/IMG_4719.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
As you can see no gauges properly work all lights are on

<a href="http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i258/briin79/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_4720.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i258/briin79/IMG_4720.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Computer? this is what i took out to see if its wet. I believe i see a dark spot on the circuit board looking in -still dunno what this thing will do if removed.

<a href="http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i258/briin79/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_4721.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i258/briin79/IMG_4721.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

backside photo

As i was drivbing the RPM's dropped and the speedometer dropped to zero i pulled over shut off car then tried to restart, it wouldnt turn over. waited 10 mins and did it again and it did start. i drove it home with the beeping and higbeams turning on, parked the ride then it kept beeping as if the lights were still on. I removed that part and it stopped. Anyone offer advise and help if been in the same issue? what would you do?

update
the piece is called amp control module- seems to control the ac unit and amplifier. i disconnected it the beeps stopped. Dont know if i should drive this thing to get the code checked. i dont want the airbags to deploy or car shut off or it to overheat and me not being able to tell.

ok final update . Here is the part opened
<a href="http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i258/briin79/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_4722.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i258/briin79/IMG_4722.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

<a href="http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i258/briin79/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_4723.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i258/briin79/IMG_4723.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
here is what it looks like with the cover on - Notice the small slit on the top- this is where that drop went in

<a href="http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i258/briin79/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_4725.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i258/briin79/IMG_4725.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
notice the blackened part of the circuit board top left corner of the black square. this is where the water made contact. I would recommend if you ever take apart your Z to put as piece of tape over that slip. it serves no purpose other than to screw your day over.

Possibly one of your cam sensors. Bank 1 or 2. Sounds exactly like the symptoms. Take it somewhere and get the code looked at!

I have found that it's always the little things you do to your Z that turn into nightmares. Good luck getting everything fixed.

The AC amplifier/module (white thing) will cause your gauges to stop working. It happens a lot during stereo installs.

How did that thing get wet? Did they take your center console apart? That's located behind the A/C dials under the radio. How'd water get in there? I've only had my Z about a year, so I haven't really looked under the steering wheel that much, but maybe the fuse box under there got wet? Maybe there's a fuse in there for that white module.

By the way, since you may have found the source, what made you think to open the console up and disconnect the white box?

I'd punch the detailer. Not acceptable.

the coffee spilled on my shifter and i thought maybe just maybe one drop went through the crack and then dropped into the Module. chances are one in a million but it happened. i installed my stereo took it apart before and have seen that white box connected to 3 wire harnesses.

Coffee probably got behind the A/C dials and screwed up the current to module...after you put the new module in, i would pull the A/C dial panel and inspect the dials, even though im sure its all dried up by now.

I have an odd question but does the white strip of wires disconnect from the circuit board? Since you have it apart.

I had the same exact issues in my G. Turned out I didn't have to change anything. It was the IPDM behind the battery, and they got a little wet. It has fail safes so it doesn't fry itself, but thing acts funky until it dries out. I waited a few days, it dried out on it's own and everything is perfect again.

My Ex had a 600SL. The cup holders are located directly over the Nav/Radio. Of course, she hits a bump and spill a Pina Colada over it. $1200 later.......
