Another Rear Passenger Squeek Sound
Ok Guys, I've read/searched the forum for the past 3 days and I think I'm just gonna post my problem. I have also having a rear wheel suspension sound and I think I might have narrowed it to 2 culprits. Either my ebrake or my wheel bearing. So my rear passenger wheel has a metal to metal sound at every revolution. It's kinda like a "swoosh" sound. My car is a 2003 350z with stock Brembos. Brakes are still fairly fresh and not worn. Car has about 80,000 miles.
1. Happens ONLY during winter time when temperature is consistently between 0 - 10 degrees Celsius. It completely goes away during the spring and summer months.
2. Happens very loud at the same location in every wheel revolution just after the first morning drive. As I get on the highway and do a good 10 min, 60 mph driving, the sound eventually turns into a quiet squeek at very low speeds coming to a stop. Still audible though.
3. Once I let the car sit for a while again (1 hour), and start driving, the sound returns.
4. My ebrake is loose a ****. Car barely holds on a hill and I need to yank it to full 8 clicks!
5. The initial sound is very loud, kinda like a squeal, if you intentionally try to reproduce the sound at like 1 mph, it sounds like a spring grinding against something. (like a creaking click click click click sound) at the same spot of every revolution.
6. Only happens when the car has load applied (sitting on the ground and driving it). When my mechanic put my car on the hoist and turned the wheel, we couldn't reproduce the problem.
7. Sound is sometimes inconsistent. During a 30 min drive, it could completely gone for a while, then comes back with the stupid squeal.
Hope this is plentiful information and any help is appreciated. I hate suspension problems because it's so hard to diagnose and I don't just want to throw random parts at it.
Thanks,
Wayne

kham25 - do these noises go away when winter is over?
Shizzmaster2k - thanks for the links, I think the 2nd link is closer to what i'm experiencing. It's weird that the noises only appear during the winter months (nov - feb). During the other 8 months of the year, it is completely gone. Makes me wonder which is the part that is temperature sensitive. =\
