Default Oil for a 03 Z

So I have a 2003 250Z base and I just wanted to know what type of oil I should be using. I have read on here that people use 0w-30, 5w-30 and that royal purple sucks for this car. I have looked around and can only find people bashing on it RP and no one explaining the difference with the 0w-30 or the 5w-30 on the Z. Any input would be nice. Thanks.

Sounds crazy but Mazola consistently yields the best results under serious driving conditions.
As we always say around here, "You can't spell Mazola without the Z, and that's why we love to put Mazola in the Z!!"

Hey Epic. You probably saw the oil analysis thread by poster Resolute. According to the findings inwhich multiple members sent in their used oil for analysis, yes Royal Purple did perform the worst for the VQ35DE engine whereas Mobil-1 0w-40 (European formula) full synthetic performed the best in preventing wear.

I have also heard good things about oils from Penzoil, Valvoline, Quaker State and so on so as long as you go with a top-tier producer you should be fine.

Hey bud,5W-30.
You bought the car used,right?
Not doin any racin,right?

I've run 5W-30 since I bought my 03 NEW.Has 65k on it.
Uses NO oil between 5,000 mile changes.
Use Valvoline semi-synthetic.

Why not just use what your owners manual recommends? It seems to be working for over 100,000 other Zs.

Thanks everyone for the input. And Blu_Blur I did. I will start using 5w-30 and I will probably go with Penzoil. I used to use that on my FC until I swapped it out to Delo 40. And no not doing anything Race to it or ricey. Just a daily for now. Thanks guys.
