replacing tranny?
i've bought a 05 base model with 90k miles on it.
it had a 5th gear grinding problem so i took it to a shop.
(I had a aftermarket "power train" warranty)
they say I should replace the tranny and i'll be paying $451 for
the difference btw what the warranty is paying and what the price of used tranny is. (including labor fee too).
They said the used tranny has 50k miles on it. Also they said i need to replace
the clutch for $400.
Does it sound like it's a good deal?

Yes, but only if the new transmission is model # CD009. It is the ninth edition and only edition that corrects the grind problem.
$400 for a clutch is fine.
(I have had 5 transmissions in my Z . . . . the CD009 did the trick)

Shops seldom recommend a used transmission. I mean a transmission from the junkyard with unknown reliability. I assume you are referring to a rebuilt transmission. Considerably different from used. A rebuilt transmission from a reputable
source should include a warranty.
