Any CEL codes showing?
Could be one of your cam position sensors is going out.
Thats a symtom. Also,if its harder to start.
If it does go out,you will get a CEL plus other warning lights
may light up on the dash.

I'd check the cam position sensors..thats usually how one starts going bad.
You might get another--engine turns off at idle, a week from now.Better
safe than sorry to get them checked. The car will still run,but poorly.Your mpg may drop.
If it is a cam sensor, and you replace, your car will seem like it
just added more hp.The sensors can become weak, have occaisional
blips.Very hard to notice.
Has your av mpg dropped?

If no dash lights came on, not even the battery light i would say it is the ignition switch. your car actually shut off.

You may have a loose line connection to your fuel tank. That causes leaking and explains the very poor mpg you report. It also allows air to enter the fuel line resulting in a vapor lock and engine shutdown (something you also report).

I think you should resolve this ASAP since it might be very dangerous.

Well today my car officially ran out of gas! Thanks hurricane sandy but w.e I dnt think its the fuel lines since the mpg are affected not the overall gas tank, ill take it to service as soon as everything goes back to normal here in long island

Poor mpg is an indication of fuel loss.

You ran out of gasoline in your car today because you have a leak somewhere in your fuel system.
