Default Lost all faith in humanity. Oh yeah, and I need advice.

I made it through four winters with my '90 Supra. The Supra is basically the same thing as the 350Z, except heavier and longer. RWD cars are awful in the snow, but this Supra got me through snowstorms. So, naturally, when the forecast called for snow this year, I thought my 350Z could handle it.

Dead wrong.

Lost all control. It was my worst nightmare come true. Eventually, I found myself stranded on the side of the road in front of a Dominos. I had my hazard lights on, and was waiting for AAA to pick me up with a flatbed. About an hour later, some 80's piece of crap Chrysler smashes into my rear bumper. He put a hole in the bumper, about a foot underneath the drivers side rear tail light. The hole is about an inch in diameter. No dents, from what I can see, just a hole.

I got out to exchange information, and he drove away. All hope in humanity: lost. Snow completely covering his license plate. Called police. Filed report. It's a Sunday, so I can't call my insurance company yet. I've never had an accident before, so I'm not sure what to do.

Money/coverage is of course a concern of mine, but my NUMBER ONE concern, is... I WANT MY BUMPER FIXED! I've never had any body repair done, and I can't call for any quotes on a Sunday. Does anybody have any experience with body damage? How much did it cost? Am I better off replacing the bumper? Will the repair shop get the paint color right if I have them repaint it after repair?

So many questions. So little experience.

Thanks for reading. I had to let this off my chest somewhere, and I couldn't do it with anyone in real life. So... Why not here? I really appreciate any feedback. I can post pictures if you guys need them. Thank you SO much. Happy Holidays!!

--EDIT---
Also, on my FRONT bumper, there are little specs of chipped paint (with black underneath) that were probably made from driving over icy snow piles. I'll also want these touched up. So, this sort of applies to my previous questions too. Thanks!

Never driving in the snow again.

An SUV lost control in snow, ended up in water. 7 mostly kids died. Many leave accidents paralized from the neck down. You cry because of a one inch hole in your bumper.

Yes, yes I do. Clearly I came to the wrong place. Maybe I'll go find someone with some advice. Thanks for nothing. Happy Holidays!

Why couldn't you find someone in real life to talk to?

Any feedback? I see you got some already.

BTW, I lost all hope in humanity a long time ago. It wasn't because of cars, though.

Your insurance should cover replacing the rear bumper under your uninsured motorist coverage. All it should cost you is your deductible.

I am on the phone on hold with the Red Cross, they are mobilizing to Massachusetts. Fema will be called in shortly once the Red Cross gives a report on the severity of the damage.

Someone needs to register the hashtag #my350zmemberFirstWorldProblemWhinyLittleGirlPreApocalypse1" holeInBumperTragedyOfLifetime

Op all ribbing aside. Glad you made it out of the winter mishap ok. Your bumper can be replaced. It is urethane if it is oem which does not repair well. Paint would range from 200-300 and a new bumper is probably under 500. If you do a deductible you will only save a few bucks if your deductible is 500, plus you will have a mark on your insurance. For such a small incident, keep it out of the police and insurance to save $$$ in the long run.

You know, if we could just speed up this Global warming or climate change thing, then maybe we can skip snowstorms all together. And you wouldn't have problems like this.

Didn't get your sig until I understood it is a misspelling, formerly, not formally. Sorry, grammar ****.

Sad indeed OP!

I couldn't leave my condo in Washington state winter one year!

I had flares going and markers out

I was a paranoid wreck

I also had a camera phone

I also had two eyes

I also had a pretty good short term memory

Something does not add up here!

My feedback goes like this. Glad you're not DEAD. Be thankful that you only have material damage. This is life, enjoy it good, or bad while you still can.

The fact or condition of being human; human nature

Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.

Alright man, the honest truth is that accidents happen man. As stated before, it's part of life. That guy who drove was a complete *******. I hope the cops catch his *** for that. As for the bumper, search on the forums in the regional section to ask members in your designated area where the good body shop are. It's not a big deal man. As for the damage, it depends on how badly the bumper got damaged as well as the paintwork. There is color codes for your bumper on here. Here it is.

https://my350z.com/forum/exterior-an...int-codes.html

It's really up to you if you want to replace the bumper or not. Better yet, this is a good time to upgrade to an aftermarket bumper since they're going to replace the bumper anyway. Good luck and have a safe happy holidays to you also.
