Default New tranny fluid, now grinding

Hey all. So Nissan changed my power steering and tranny fluid about 100 miles ago since I hit 35k and ever since then the tranny felt clunky. So today Im driving and no matter what 5th gear grinds every time. I never had an issue before with my tranny. Any ideas?

Its an 08 and I am still under warranty.

Thanks in advance.

For my trans... I had a little, ok very notchy shifting. I changed out to a redline mix. It made the trans very smooth. Warm and cold.

2qt Red Line 50304 and 2qt Red Line 50204. For some reason... this mix works GREAT!

Redline ftw, just changed mine out at 26k. Difference is night and day, so much smoother.

I disagree with the redline comments. Redline performs very well under hard driving/track use. However, I switched back to Nissan OEM and the notchy shifts I had during daily driving went away immediately. Redline DID NOT make my shifts "smoother" during daily driving. That is more of a placebo type effect I'd think. Nissan's OEM fluid is the best IMO. Just make sure the dealer put the correct fluid and the right amount as well.

Thanks for the responses. I will stay with oem since I literally just got it changed so nissan will have to fix this. I just hope my synchros and tranny is good. Very frustrating, especially since autocross starts in a week.

Not so sure about placebo effect, I've ran Redline on several previous NA to turbo cars. Before changing to redline, oem fluids didn't hold up at all for daily. Evo Xs are known to notch/slight grind in 3rd from the factory, after changing mine out at 10k miles, issue was gone immediately.

+1- Redline MT85 meets Nissan's viscocity requirements and works well in our gearboxes.

Lurker throwing in his experiences-
If you saved your work order make sure it says GL-4. I was having grinding with my 1>2 shift after switching to Redline MT-85, and no dealership around me had OEM Gl4 fluid in stock to sell me, but they said they had it in bulk and could do the change in their shop. After a week of not being able to find bottles at dealerships around me, I sucked it up and paid them to change my fluid. I noticed it was notchier than before almost immediately, and when I got home saw that they had put GL5 in instead. Long story short, had some OEM GL-4 shipped in couldn't be happier. I know some people swear by Redline, but for my DD it didn't work.

They offered to change the clutch and associated parts for no charge on the labor, just for the parts. Should I do it? I have 37k miles.

How much do you guys think the parts will be? Should I change just the clutch? Or also the flywheel? Any other parts?

Absolutely replace the clutch disc, pressure plate and clutch slave while they're in there.

Even though it only has 37k miles? How about the flywheel?

So what did they do to it to cause fifth gear to go? I would just get the original flywheel resurfaced. And replace clutch and throw out bearing.

How do I go about doing this? I am dropping it off to them on Saturday for the new tranny.

They are covering it, although they are refusing to take the blame, saying it was just a coincidence.
