Unsure of the issue?? Whitish smoke
Okay guys, seems to be kind of a weird issue. Wondering if you guys might be able to give me some options or places to look first that maybe myself, or friends have not thought of.
So it's a 2003 350z enthusiast. around 94k miles on it. Only engine mod I have is CAI, then exhaust I have test pipes.
I seem to have some whitish smoke coming from my exhaust. For the most part, it's when I stop at a light or sign, the smoke comes right when I stop, then nothing really. My buddy says smoke doesn't come out when I'm driving like on the freeway or city streets, and doesn't smell anything during then. When I go to get off the freeway, I hit the stop light and followed by a thin white smoke. but just like one wave.
Now when I hammer on the gas in lower gears, I notice some smoke coming out the exhaust. My buddy who runs his own shop, says it smells sort of like it's just running rich. But I don't think it's tuned. So not sure how that would happen?
Anyway, we have thought it could be a couple of things, maybe valve covers? fuel related? or piston rings (really hope not)..
Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Okay I will check that out. I do notice some oil consumption. I want to say on average maybe like 1 qt for every 1000 miles. Not sure if that's normal. The amount fluctuates pending on how heavy my foot is. I think I'll start with compression test and then maybe even a leak down test if that doesn't solve anything?
Hope it's nothing too serious. Thanks.

his mechanic smells something…but if he is running test pipes its most likely that...
I don't think it's condensation…condensation isnt a function of morning versus afternoon versus evening … it's a function of humidity and a difference in temperature.
I think the compression and leak down tests are the way to go -

Will compression tell me whether or not it's the rings or valve seals? I know leak down will say exactly which cylinder that has the leak in it.
