Default Wierd grinding noise on startup

hey guys,

half the time i start my 2003 z it makes a grinding noise as soon as i turn the key.. i read some stuff online suggesting it might be the teeth of the flywheel not lining up with the starter or something like that.. does anyone know how i can fix it? its pretty embarrassing lol

Questions:

1. Are you pushing your clutch pedal to the floor when starting your car?

2. Does this car have the original factory clutch?

It could be a bad bendix drive on your starter. Pull it and have it checked. You can check the flywheel gear at the same time by having someone slowly turn the engine with a wrench while you're looking at the teeth at the starter mount.
