Default TPMS malfunction.

So, I was headed up to my aunts for the holidays, driving up to seatlle area. I was about 50 miles into my drive, and then noticed that my TPMS light came on. We got out to make sure that the tire was fine, and everything was pumped up and nothing punctured. This same thing happened last year on the same stretch of road, and again, nothing was punctured, and nothing popped. Has anyone ever had something like this happen where you travel a longer distance than normal and your TPMS comes on? As soon as I shut off the car and turned it back on, it went away briefly, and came back, but only on one stretch of the road. Could it be the road? input would be awesome, thanks!

Your tpms is dead. My old Z did the same thing after about 45 min of driving.

Mine does the same crap, personally I would just get some sensors on ebay, or just check your psi every couple days like most should. On a side note, it seems that this also occurs if you are running spacers... (20front 25rear)

I will tell you my story with tpms. I had the light come on and let it go for a while until i needed to get new tires. Well the longer you wait the more you will have to eventually fill you tires up. I was filling my tires up weekly and they didn't get flat but they were always low. Tpms sensors will cost about $60 to replace. I just went to tire kingdom to have my sensors changed and new tires installed.

I noticed that with cold weather, my tpms light sometimes comes on. I just add more air and that usually solves the problems.

This may or may not be relevant....
One day on the radio show "Car Talk" a woman called in with a similar scenario. There was a certain stretch of road on the way to work would set off her TPMS light. As she drove away it would go off. The same happened on her way home at night.
One of the brothers asked if she happened to be driving by a military installation when it happened. She confirmed that was exactly where she was when it went off.
They speculated that since the TPMS is transmitting by a wireless signal of some sort, all of the radar, microwaves, radio towers of this installation was interfering with her TPMS signal.
Just a thought.

I thought it was cold weather at first, but its about 20 here and nothing so far.
As for the transmitting..that may be something. I dont drive that area often, but that is the only place it has happened. I might have to goggle and see what exactly is up there and see if it could be interfering with the signal. Didnt even think of that!!
