Default Starting problem

I've been researching and checking things and I still can't figure out my problem.

First a couple weeks ago I went to start my 03 Z after it sitting for a couple days and it was completely dead. I jumped it and after a while it started. I was bleeding the coolant system, so when I turned it of to let the coolant go down, it wouldn't start again.

I had the battery tested and it's fine, after having the battery fully charged it started again and I tested that the alternator was charging at 14v and took the terminal off the battery and the alt was still charging at 14v.

After shutting the car off it wouldn't start back up. The starter would give one slow halfassed turn and then nothing. After the battery still had 12v or maybe a little less. So could my starter be bad?

Also, after letting the car sit for 3 days I checked the voltage and it dropped .5v. Is this normal voltage drop, or should I test for something draining the battery.

How was your battery tested? Carbon pile load test or just with a multimeter?

The car was wired for subs when I got it, but I took out all the wiring.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's the starter too, I just wanted a second opinion. The car has 135k miles.

The battery was load tested. I had just bought the battery a month or two ago and I wanted to make sure I didn't get a dud. I only used the multimeter to see if the battery was being charged properly or drained at all.

Yeah I'm going to replace the starter and see how it goes from there.

Does .5v in 3 days seem like a bit much?

It was at 12.3 and dropped to 11.8 in 3 days.

I just had the starter tested at autozone and it passed. But it did not have a load on it.

It's more or less a combo or 1 of the following .
1.starter ( would change it )
2.alternator
3. Battery

If you are simply using a multimeter, you should see about 12.8VDC on a charged battery. Anything less than 12VDC is indicative of a dead battery or a battery in need of a charge.

It was the battery. Even though autozone charged it, when tested it it still didnt have enough juice to start the car. I put my battery tender on it and gave it a slow deep charge on it. Now it starts right up and will start after sitting a couple days.

Thanks for all the help.

Good to hear you got it figured out . In my case it was until I changed my battery that the idle relearn wouldn't hold doing to pedal dance .

What brand battery was it?

The oem one is pretty nice and supposed to last about 8 years I think.

Not in my experience. Most OEM batteries last a maximum of six years before they need replacing.
