08 z won't crank sometimes. Ideas?
I have an 08 350 6spd and sometimes ill hop in and go to start it and the starter doesn't even try to engage? Lights come on key turns all the way everything works except the starter.
I've pushed my self out of the garage and compression started it works everytime so it's not a security issue I don't think? I've pulled the alarm out and it still does it.
It's not everytime but seems to be happening more often now if I keep trying eventually sometimes it will go but i have sat and messed with stuff for 10 minutes.
Nothing is ever consistent as to whether I jiggle under the dash wires or make sure the clutch safety switch is engaged sometimes it just starts.
Just trying to be thorough to avoid unnecessary questions.
Was hoping maybe someone has had a similar problem and has figured it out before I install a push button starter I'm not fully ready to start to ghetto the z out yet.
Thanks!!!

if it were me, i would prob replace the clutch switch. if it is not engaging the starter something is keeping it from getting singal. i wouldnt think that it would be too expensive. unfortunately you are more than likely going to have to do process of elimination. good luck sir
I had a similar issue in my winter beater. It would start sometimes abd others not.
It ended up being the floormat bunched up under the clutch, so I wasn't pushing in all the way every time

Check every connection, this includes at the starter.
If there is room (I cant remember, it's been a while since I pulled my starter) try jumping the terminals at the starter solenoid. If it cranks fine then it's a problem with the clutch switch, ignition, possible BCM or wiring somewhere in between.
If it cranks from jumping the solenoid I would check the clutch switch. Bypass it and see if it starts every time then. If so then replace the clutch switch or just go without it. It's not a necessity.

Ill look into the clutch engage switch. Yes its factory battery showing good voltage. My buddy is the electrical guru ill have him test connections if i cant figure it out. Originally when we pulled the alarm it fired right up so we thought that was the issue.
If i cant get it i guess its time to go all in push button start roll cage 5/8ths WALLL
