As one of the original pre-order '03 owners, this Z has been extremely durable. Despite multiple track days and over 92K on the odo, the biggest issue (resolved under warranty at about 35K) was the switch to a CD009 tranny. Other issues I've dealt with include one window motor replaced at 75K and a radiator cap at 80K. I've also trashed two underbody splash shields, but that's on me.

Of course, I've also modded the suspension, interior and stereo system, but those weren't in need of repair.

My window motors are next. I keep having to reset the driver side window. I havent repaired it yet, but when I do I'll also use the DIY posted here.

I've had one window motor replaced under warranty and the fuel hose recall done. Other than that, have gone "FI" and runs like a champ. Bought it brand new right off the lot.

I must be super lucky. '06 ZR, 71k DD.
In order, I bought it 10/11 with 43k-
Dealer put on rear pads and rotors,
Pass side window motor went out, followed sticky for cleanout. Fine for 20k miles.
"Burp" the heater core last Dec, when heater failed, no probs since.
Soft top on order, horizontal splits along 5th bow.
Planning to do plugs, belts, etc @ 75k.
Minus stone chips, looks and drives like new. Edit- many scratches on rubberized dash.
Great car, does exactly what I bought it for.

I've had my '04 with 77K on the clock for just under 2 years now and the only repair I've had is the drivers door window motor failure which was replaced under warranty. Other than a pair of Hankook V-12's for the rear and servicing all has been good.
Just realised that i had to pack out the solenoid on the sub woofer about a year ago as it kept dropping out, it still appears to be working OK.

I like,dkmura is a original 2003 owner.Ordered the Z.Had it "built".
With a tad over 93k on it,my Z has been super reliable.Could be some reasons
why:always garaged,never raced.
Parts replaced other than mods I've done(not needed due to failure)like HFC's,exhaust,
intake/spacer etc are:rear deck lifts,cam position sensor(1),battery(2),belts,brake pads.
(1)coil pack.Tires(3 pairs fronts when new due to legendary tire feathering issue. All paid for
by Nissan).
Thats it...
Besides,my Z uses zero oil between 6k changes(semi-syn).Has perfect oil pressure.

Interesting to note how many responses include MT problems incl clutches.
I've got a AT.Tune gave it crisper shifts.Added a Transgo too.No problems whatsoever.

Only things that went out on there own was when I got hit in the rear end my Bose head unit went out. My Bose sub sucks so I just bypassed it wit a Kenwood set up. Window motor went out on driver side. The plastic price on the door handle went out on driver side. The coil pack went out on one of my cylinders causing a misfire.
so what I got is
-head unit
-driver door outside handle
-coil pack
-driver window motor
-Bose amp

edit: crank positioning sensor went out to but it was my bad cause I left it in when I was changing the clutch so I won't count that

also I guess u can count when I got my engine built I bought a cd009 transmission because it was grinding but honestly it was probably one of the better ones with a lot of time left

2004 (purchased new) 60,000 miles now. I only drive it on sunny Sundays.

-I'm on tranny #5 - CD009
-Clutch and pressure plate (3 times)
-Bose radio
- Both front wheel bearings
-Drivers seat switch
-Drivers seat gear
-Seat belt tension-er
-Radiator fan
-Window motors
-Body Control Module
-Hatchback struts
-Cubby door (hinge failed)
-Windshield and door rubber
-Crank sensor
- Antennae (2) (rubber rots)
-Belts (failed at 50k miles)
-Battery (lived a normal life)
-Tires (many sets)
-ALL my suspension and brakes are now aftermarket (not really a failure)

Would I purchase another Nissan ? No !

I purchased my 04 with 55k miles in 08. It now has 107k on it and I drive in every kind of weather.

So far I've had to change:

Clutch (98k miles)
Left door handle
Battery (8 years old)
Spark plugs
Coolant
Trans/diff oil
Diff bushings (did subframe while I was there)
Belts
Lots of tires
Hatch shocks are toast but I never open it so screw them
Rear struts are worn out (I have all new struts and springs waiting to go on)
Wiper blades
2 marker lights
Tag light
Rear turn signal housings (got rear ended)
And I replaced the CV's when they didn't really need to be replaced.....

She's been damn good to me.
