Redline or OEM Trans Fluid?
Ok I've done a bit of poking around on here and I can't seem to find a definite answer, unless it comes down to a preference. My 04' has 130k on it, and I don't know the last time the tranny fluid has been changed(I've put 10k on it). I have the 2nd gear grind once in awhile(if I'm shifting fast and hard) every other gear is fine. All gears are fine if I'm puttin around, except for a LITTLE notchyness. ANYWAY, the threads I found were about a year old and it seemed everyone was split about 50/50 whether they preferred Redline or Nissan tranny fluid. Speaking from experience with both, who likes what and how long have you been running it?

We recommend the redline MT85 or Amsoil MT85 for smoother shifts

I use MT85 in my street 350Z with 92K on it and wouldn't go back to the OEM fluid. I also use the same product in my SCCA Z33, which had been campaigned over six years. The heat and stress of competition have proved its value to me.
So pretty well the difference between one or the other is how you drive your car? Seems like people that track, like the redline ,but people that baby the car like oem. I usually drive my car pretty spiritedly but nothing extreme, I guess if I get the redline I'll only be out about 50$ and a little time if I don't like it.

I don't track the car, and I definitely don't baby her. But as I said, I couldn't tell the difference. Sounds the same (still noisy as hell), shifts the same, and I don't have a trans temp gauge but I'm guessing the temp is the same.
I did OEM GL-5 and Amsoil for rear end. Was going to do Amsoil in tranny but just did OEM. Felt better through gears and all. Recommended intervals are 30k I believe and may do motul or one of the others next time, will see.
I'm a newer owner and had no shifting issues but didn't know how old the oil was so I changed it to Redline MT-85. The car when cold, kinda clunks into 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear. Once warmed up though I notice no shifting issues. Next time I change it I'll try OEM, that's assuming thats what was in it before. As for tranny noise it's loud but I believe thats due to the flywheel.
2nd is very common in the 6MT 350's. 5th will also be picky at times.
The trans is also just noisy at idle in neutral with the clutch out. There is nothing you can do about it.

No issue so far with 5th(knock on wood) 2nds my only gripe. It's embarrassing when you try to race a mustang and grind 2nd -.- anyway ill order some redline I guess and see how it does, if it gives me problems I'll buy some oem. Thanks guys.
If it's warmed up and still grinding try the redline. If it still grinds either drop the trans and rebuild it or start lifting weights so you can force it into gear harder to prevent any grind.
Just put in Redline MT-85 yesterday and I can say that it is a WORLD of a difference compared to the OEM fluid. My OEM fluid only had about 2k miles since Nissan rebuilt my tranny last summer and ever since then I was having some issues with 5th gear grinding and notchy shifting. After swapping the fluid yesterday, I can say my tranny is now super smooth, and no more 5th gear grind! It feels like a whole different tranny.
